Usually the choice of accessories is simple. You just have to like the piece and the way it looks on you. Buying a watch is more difficult. You should not judge it only by its looks. You have to take into account its accuracy, reliability and durability. An automatic men's watch is a fine choice. But before you start shopping you should learn more about this type of items.
The automatic watch works with a spring that powers the wheels, which in turn more the hands. In the past people had to wind a watch so that it could work. At present this function is automated. The spring is wound automatically by the natural movement of your wrist. The self-winding watches are accurate and reliable. But you need to wear your accessory frequently so that it can run properly. Also, you have to take into account the fact that an automatic men's watch usually costs more than a similar one with quartz movement. Still, investing in such a piece is definitely worthwhile as it is much more durable. A high quality model can work for decades without failure.
The choice of automatic watches on the market is simply overwhelming. You should definitely look for a model coming from a reputable brand. In this way you can be certain that you are buying a high quality piece. Plus, you can expect such an automatic men's watch to come with one or two year manufacturer warranty. You should choose a model that has a durable water resistant stainless steel case. The leather band is both stylish and comfy, but you can always get a sport model with a rubber one. You should keep in mind that the pieces with steel bands are usually heavier and may cause discomfort. It is essential for you to opt for a watch that matches your personal style.

The watch is very nice looking. It really turns heads. It suites best with a suit or a classy shirt. The only problem I found is his movement. It's automatic self-wind so... I couldn't leave it for 2 days off my hand.... or it gets behind. I guess the mechanic spring must be loaded for it to work perfectly. I'll give it 5 stars because if you wear it it runs smoothly.
I managed to scoop up this watch for a ridiculous price of for a one-hour sale. THis is an automatic watch, so that means thatthe scond needle has a sweeping motion, like many high end watches. This watch got me out of two sticky situations, where I was confronted with one male and one gorgeous female, and ther was nothing to talk about as it was an awkward moment, but this watch saved the day when it appeared for a breif moment when my hand reached out to press the "door close" button on the elevator. Immidiatly it became the topic of conversation, and now three people in the elevator were looking at the internals of the watch (which ARE awesome, mind you).
Sadly, you cannot tell tim ein this watc at night as it doenst have any glow-in-the-dark paint, so youll have to twitch your wrist a little to get a shimmer of light going. Secondly, this is just a nag, but this watch has only one feature. Telling time. I know that this watch should probably cost more, as it doesnt loose or gain time like many 100$ watches, but I miss my other watches where I can get at least the DATE going. If youre good with your calendar, this should no be an issue, but then again, any mans WATCH should NOT be of only one purpose.
THis watch is gorgeous, and at one point i was staring at it for 15 minutes just watching everything move on the inside. It is self winding as well, so as you move your hand throughout the day; the watch will have juice.
Great entry level automatic+exibition watch. Love the backside too. bought this watch knowing i would cut the strap and turn it into a clasp buckle, but its fine for now. I was not buying this watch for the strap, but for the watch itself. It might look good with a metal band, or any other band you may choose to adjunt it with. IT is buietiful however, and even at 150 it would still be a good buy if its your FIRST automatic/exibition/waterproof watch.
Just got the watch today and I have to say I'm very impressed. Watch has wonderful finish, very large and very heavy. Everyone at work was impressed. Reminded them of the Bell and Ross watches. Very happy I bought. So far accurate time.
I bought this watch for my boyfriend for christmas. He liked it right away. At first he thought it was broken because the watch turns off after a while. His favorite thing was when it touched his skin and it caught up with the correct time. He looked like a little kid he was so excited. It does have a very large face and was bigger than I thought. He likes it a lot and that's all that matters to me.
I was in search for a heavy watch that looked very different from the infinite yet repeated designs out there. This watch has a very rugged industrial look and feel and if you are looking for something like it, you will not be dissapointed. I love it since I was searching for a couple of years before I settled on this one...
For a chinese made mechanical watch in a low budget range it seems to hold its own fairly well. The dial is easily visible with precise, easy to read numbers. Other than a slight misalignment of the 12, 9 and 3 dials for the most part it is perfect. The band is a bit smaller than standard American bands and fairly narrow. The synthetic sapphire also seems to hold true to the name and after a few scrapes into things has been fairly scratch resistant.
It seems to use an unknown Chinese etched cover for the parts that is found in several other brands such as Armitron and Stuhrling (Also owned by the owners of Akribos). This watch mainly has the advantage of the very visible dial when compared to other "generic Chinese skeletons"
However it does have a few flaws
1)The oscillating weight is fairly stiff. It takes quite a bit of force for it to move when compared to other automatic watches. It also makes a fairly audible cranking sound in a quiet room. Sometimes it sounds as if the watch is broken. The escape ticking is also fairly audible, although again it needs to be fairly quiet to be heard.
2)Contrary to what is written in the manual; pulling the crown does not stop the clock, it only allows you to turn the hour/minute wheel, and even they continue moving. At first I thought it was a defect and a quick e-mail to the company was responded to informing me that this is part of the way this model works. This makes it difficult to assess the accuracy of second loss and makes it quite difficult to set the watch without the time being off by 20-40 seconds.
3)Winding this watch can also be an annoyance as the mechanism is quite stiff even when the watch has completely run out of kenetic energy.
Akribos XXIV Men's 'Monaco' Open Heart Automatic Dual-Time.....
THIS IS THE BIG COMPETITOR OF BELL & ROSS WATCHES FOR JUST A FRACTION OF THE MONEY.
EVERYTHING LOOKS OF HIGH QUALITY ON THIS TIME PIECE. IT'S HEAVY AND COMFORTABLE.
THE CARBON FIBER LOOK ON DIAL AND THE LEATHER BAND GIVE TO IT AN AMAIZING TOUCH.
NEVERTHELESS I'D LIKE TO BE THE ONLY ONE WEARING IT IN THE STREET, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.
